About me
Hello!
I’m Stamatia or Matia for short (it sounds like Maria but with a ‘t’). I've been belly dancing professionally for the last 5 years in London and have been training for over 10 years.
Long before that, while growing up in Greece, I loved dancing tsifteteli with friends and family. Back then I didn't know we were belly dancing! It was just the way we danced at social gatherings and in nightclubs.
My curiosity about how to add more movements to tsifteteli led me to study Egyptian and Turkish belly dance styles. When I saw a bellydancer perform in a restaurant, becoming a professional immediately became my dream!
I intensified my training, studied with internationally-renowned teachers and, after lots of hard work, started performing in restaurants, at parties and all sorts of events!
It's an incredible journey to be on with so much to explore and so many beautiful moments shared with people at their special events.
